House Keys For
Employees Program

Local
employers are joining the State of
Maryland’s newest homeownership initiative
House Keys 4
Employees, an employer partnership program, to help the County’s
workforce become homeowners through a creative match program with the
State. Any borrower who receives a contribution for downpayment and/or
closing cost assistance from an employer and meets the eligibility
criteria under the Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP) may participate in
House Keys 4 Employees.
For Employers:
If you are interested in becoming a Participating
Employer, please review the
Employer
Guidelines and complete and submit the Employer Participation
Agreement to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community
Development.
For St. Mary’s County
Employees:
St.
Mary’s County
Government
is a participating employer and will provide a financial contribution of
$5,000 toward the closing and down payment costs for eligible St. Mary’s
County employees on the purchase of a home in St. Mary’s County.
Funding is available as authorized by the St. Mary’s Board of County
Commissioners. The State will then match
$5,000 in state funds.
To be eligible for the County’s HK4E one must be:

Employed full-time
by one of the following employers: St. Mary’s County Commissioners, St.
Mary’s County Library Board of Trustees, St. Mary’s County Board of
Education, or
·
A Fire, Rescue or
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
volunteer who has qualified in the prior year for credited service, as
defined for purposes for the Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP)
·
Must be first-time
homebuyer or have not owned a home for at least 3 years
·
Must meet the income
limit of $82,100 for 1 or 2 persons in household or $94,415 for 3 or
more persons in household.

Maximum purchase
price of the home is $343,125
