The
St. Mary’s County Division of Tourism is charged with increasing the
economic impact of travel and tourism activities through resident
and non-resident spending. To accomplish this mission, the Division
executes a full range of marketing, public relations, and
promotional programs.
While striving to achieve an increase in tourism
activity, the Division is guided by two objectives. First, preserve
our heritage and enhance our natural, cultural, and recreational
resources through conservation, education, revitalization,
preservation, and tourism development. Second, provide for the
increase of tourism-related revenue to the public and private sector
through the development, marketing, and promotion of our local
sites, businesses, events, and attractions. In order to meet these
objectives the Division maintains partnerships with various
organizations and develops an annual marketing plan outlining
programs to be implemented.
Two full-time employees, the Tourism Manager and an
Administrative Coordinator, implement and ensure the effectiveness
of all Division programs.
