Effective
July 1, 2001, the board of County Commissioners
transferred the responsibilities of the Airport to the
Department of Public Works & Transportation. Since 1969,
the St. Mary's County airport has been serving the
general aviation needs of the community and currently
has over 56,000 operations per year. In January 2003, a
seven (7) member Airport Advisory Committee was
established by the Board of County Commissioners.

responsibilities of the airport Manager position.
Services provided at the Airport include hangar leasing,
tie-down rental, flight school protection are some of

Services provided at the Airport include hangar leasing
, tie-down rental, flight school instructions, charter
services, maintenance/repair services and Maryland State
Police Medevac operations. Over 100,000 gallons of 100
low lead and Jet-A fuel are purchased each year for
customer use.
In 2009 and
2010, over 50,000 square feet of new hangar space was
constructed, the consolidation of several tenant leases
was completed, a new MD State Police Medvac hangar was
built and occupied in November 2010 and renovations to
an existing adjacent hangar for Medstar rotary win
operations will be completed in early 2011.
