The centralized pick-up, processing, distribution
and billing of inter-departmental and U.S. Postal mail is performed
by the Transportation Division - Metro Mail Service.
The DPW&T Metro
Mail system serves over 40 individual Personal Mail / Large Packages
Only
pre-stamped letter mail will be accepted for outgoing mail delivery.
All packages being sent via the US Postal Service will be held at
the Leonardtown or California Post Office; the receiver is
responsible for pick up at either of these locations. If the
receiver wishes to have the package delivered directly to them, they
should obtain the necessary approval from their department and have
the package delivered via UPS or FEDEX
All
mail should be in each department’s assigned “outgoing mail”
location / bin no later than the designated time on the Metro Mail
Service Delivery and Pick-up Schedule. The latest time that outgoing
postal mail can be accepted is 3:15 pm daily. If employees have a
deadline and missed the regular pick-up times, they will be required
to deliver their outgoing mail directly to the Mail Room Office,
located in the Joseph D. Carter building
(Leonardtown). If you need to bring mail to the mailroom office,
please e-mail
Kimberly_Owens@co.saintmarys.md.us
and
Lisa_Bodnar@stmarysmd.com ahead
of time and with some advanced notice.
The
times indicated on the Metro Mail Service Delivery and Pick-up
Schedule (above) are approximate, and may vary based on the amount
of mail generated each day, severe weather conditions, and the
availability of staff.
All
metro mail received in the morning will be delivered to the
corresponding departments the same afternoon. Subsequently, metro
mail which is received during the afternoon mail run (or after 2:00)
will be delivered to the corresponding departments the following
day.
In an
effort to keep up with changes and additions in personnel and to
keep mail runs as timely and efficient as possible, please provide
us with a listing of new employee names and the location of the
department(s) / division(s) they are assigned. Please e-mail updated
lists to Ms. Kimberly Owens and Lisa Bodnar as soon as the
information is available.
Staff
also performs the sorting, delivering, evaluation of suspicious
packages, postage billing and processing of regular and bulk mail -
over 20,000 pieces per month. We will try
to notify all our customers (via e-mail) if no service or
delays in service are anticipated, especially as a result of
inclement weather. If you have any specific requests, please do not
hesitate to contact us at 301-475-4200 ext. 2020. |
