RENTAL ASSISTANCE
The
Housing Authority of St. Mary's County, Maryland
offers rental assistance in the form
of State funded Rental Allowance Program and Federal funded Section 8
Housing Choice Voucher. Both are designed to provide affordable,
decent, safe, and sanitary housing.
RENTAL ASSISTANCE
Rental Assistance is
provided by Federal and State Programs such as:
Rental Allowance Programs
(RAP)
The State of Maryland's Rental Allowance
Program (RAP) is designed to assist very low income persons who have
critical housing needs.
Eligibility for the Rental Allowance Program includes:
Section 8
Housing Choice Voucher Program
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides
funding for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. This program
is to assist eligible families in paying their rent. Preference is
given to elderly, disabled, and working families.
Eligibility for the Housing Choice Voucher Program includes:
- Income eligible
- Has not participated in any drug
related or violent criminal activity in the last five years.
- Does not owe money to any Housing
Authority.
Once you are notified that your name
has come to the top of the waiting list, you will need to have the
following information on all household members:
- Social Security Cards
- Birth Certificates
- Income Verification (employment,
child support, pensions, Social Security, Temporary Cash Assistance,
etc.)
- Child Care Expenses
- Medical Bills (Elderly and/or
Disabled Head of Household only)
