PARENTING WITH LOVE AND LOGIC

Parenting is not supposed to be hard but all too often it is. This program is for parents, and teachers. It is a “user friendly” and often highly successful program that is heavily wrapped in empathy but does not shield children from consequences of their actions. It empowers children to solve their problems and helps parents change their behaviors to relieve stress and pressure. Of course, nothing works all the time, but this anecodotal program and the expertise of your presenter will, in a safe and non-threatening environment, invite you to change the only person you can change, yourself.

SIGN LANGUAGE FOR KIDSRETURNING THIS FALL

We will learn some sign language by working with sign language books, games and videos.  Handouts will be provided for students to keep.  Parents and siblings too young for class are welcome to sit in.  Class is geared for children ages 6 to 11. Contact instructor for allowable exceptions.  (410-326-3828) Sharon Kaltwasser, instructor, has over 15 years experience teaching sign language to children.

ADULT SIGN LANGUAGE – RETURNING THIS FALL

Students will learn basic signing skills through instruction, interaction with each other, and the text.  The text is “The Joy of Signing” by Lottie Riekehof; approximate cost is $22.00.  Students will be responsible for getting their own text, which can often be checked out at local libraries also.  The text is an excellent resource and can even be used for future classes such as Intermediate and Advanced.  Students would not have to purchase another text for more advanced classes.  Text will not be needed for first class.  Instructor: Sharon Kaltswasser, BSed of the Hearing Impaired, BSed Elementary Education.

SONG INTO SIGN – RETURNING THIS FALL

"Have you ever wanted to try and put a favorite song into sign language?  Come and learn some techniques for doing just that.  Prior knowledge of sign language helpful, but not required.  Access to sign language texts helpful as well (library, purchase, etc.). Bring a song to the first class so you can begin working on it. Text of the song as well as the music itself will be very helpful.  CD/tape player provided.  Contact instructor (410) 326-3828 with additional questions. Instructor: Sharon Kaltswasser, BSed of the Hearing Impaired, BSed Elementary Education.
