The Cougars Elite Competitive Cheerleading program's primary focus is not only to prepare and compete in local, state and national competitions, but to teach athletes self-confidence, athleticism and sportsmanship. During the year, squads concentrate on all components of cheerleading including tumbling, dance, stunting, jumps and showmanship. Coaches have extensive backgrounds in cheerleading and tumbling.

(Grades 6-8) The Select Cheerleading Program serves young players, their families and the St. Mary’s County community at large by providing fun, safe and enjoyable youth sports experiences by recognizing each player’s physical and emotional well-being, by teaching skills development, by treating them with respect and dignity, by encouraging positive parent involvement and by enriching young lives with meaningful recreation and socialization through cheerleading. The program provides a cheerleading team each for the 4 SMCPS Middle Schools. These teams provide sideline spirit at the middle school basketball games. Teams hold tryouts for students in their respective schools in October with practices beginning in late November. Games begin from January and run through March and are held at LHS and CHS.
Please look for tryout information in September.
