The event was created in 1995 to extend the memory of Scott Verbic, a former coach, Volunteer Board Member, and youth sports advocate for the southern Maryland community. The Verbic family wanted to create an opportunity to raise money for children to participate in recreational activities.
The event was a success and has become a staple to the local community in annual efforts to include more families in sports and recreational activities. To date the event has raised over $155,000 in the 23 year history. Many of Scott’s friends and families gather at the tournament in October every year to honor Scott’s vision for youth athletes.
The event receives outstanding support from local businesses that keep expenses at a minimum so that scholarship dollars are at a maximum. Please visit the sponsorship page to see how your business can be part of this community event.
