Water Taxi Tours

Water Taxi Hours of Operation

Weekends Memorial Day weekend through the end of September*
 

First departure to St. Clement's Island: 12:30 p.m.

On-going departures and return trips available on the half hour

Last return trip to the museum:  4:00 p.m.

 

*The water taxi is not available Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day.


Water Taxi Rate

Weekend Service Rate (For group rates, see below)

 

Water taxi transportation fees are $7 per person, which includes children of any age. Dogs are not allowed on the water taxi unless they are a Working Guide Dog, and they ride free. The water taxi fee includes admission to the museum.

 

Water taxi transportation to St. Clement's Island is subject to cancellation due to weather conditions. The water taxi will not operate during rain, lightning, high wind or rough water conditions for the safety of our passengers.  Visitors are strongly encouraged to call ahead to the St. Clement's Island at 301-769-2222 to ensure that the water taxi will be operational the day of your visit.
 


 
Blackistone Lighthouse Tours

 

The Blackistone Lighthouse Foundation provides volunteers for guided tours of the lighthouse.  A schedule of dates that the Blackistone Light houselighthouse will be open to the public has been created to coordinate with museum special events or with the monthly openings of the Point Lookout Lighthouse. 

 

The Blackistone Lighthouse will be open for tours the following dates in 2009:

  • Saturday, June 6

  • Saturday, July 11 - Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival

  • Sunday, July 12

  • Saturday, July 25

  • Saturday, August 1

  • Sunday, August 2

  • Saturday, September 5

  • Sunday, September 6

  • Saturday, September 19

  • Sunday, September 20

The museum water taxi will offer an extended schedule of operation on days the Blackistone Lighthouse is open for guided tours.

 

First departure to St. Clement's Island: 10:30 a.m.

On-going departures and return trips available on the half hour

Last return trip to the museum 4:00 p.m.
  

 


 

 

Chartered Tours

 

The museum Water Taxi may be chartered during the week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Prices are based on a 20 person minimum.  Groups under 20 people may charter the boat if they pay the remaining balance.

 

Student and Youth Group Charters - $7 per person ($140 minimum payment)Water Taxi Tours

This rate includes 3 hours of educational programs in the museum and on St. Clement's Island.  Teachers may rent the boat for additional hours at $50 per extra hour.  Teachers are free.  Only one chaperone for every ten students will be admitted for free.   Additional chaperones will be charged the full program fee.  Student charters are subsidized by St. Mary’s County Government.

 

Adult Group Charters - $10.00 per person ($200.00 minimum payment)

This rate includes 2 hours of time on St. Clement's Island.  A guide is provided by request for an additional $25.00.  Group leaders may rent the boat for additional hours at $50.00 per extra hour.  Prepayment must be paid in full.  There is a non-refundable processing fee of $25.00.

Water Taxi Transportation to St. Clement’s Island is subject to cancellation due to unsafe water/weather conditions.  Therefore, please call the museum the day you intend to visit for current information.  If you decide to cancel your charter you must cancel with at least 24 hours advanced notice to have your money refunded.
