Register to Vote  
To be a registered voter in St. Mary’s County, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Resident of the County

  • United States Citizen

  • At least 18 years of age on or before the next General Election

  • Not disqualified as outlined by Maryland State Law

CheckTo Register to Vote, a resident must complete a Voter Registration Form and return it to the Board of Elections office. There are several ways to obtain the form:

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING OUT AND SUBMITTING VOTER REGISTRATION FORM

Please fill out and print the Voter Registration Application form following the instructions provided with it. Be sure to sign the form where appropriate before mailing it. The Voter Registration Application form cannot be processed without an ORIGINAL signature.

We encourage you to fill out the form directly from Adobe Acrobat Reader and then print and sign it.

Forms can be MAILED to the St. Mary’s County Board of Elections, P. O. Box 197, Leonardtown, MD 20650-0197 or to the State Board of Elections, P.O. Box 6486, Annapolis, MD 21401-0486. Do NOT fax or e-mail your Voter Registration Application.

If you plan to register anyone other than you or your family you must comply with the Maryland regulations for Voter Registration Volunteers. Please contact the State Board of Elections for details.

Remember that you are not a registered voter until you receive your Voter Notification Card.
