Presently owned by the St. Mary’s County Historical Society, Tudor Hall represents the oldest house in Leonardtown.  Largely constructed over two different periods, the original wings of the house appear to date from the ownership of Richard Barnes who inherited the plantation, alternatively called America Felix Secundus, in 1778.  The house’s original appearance was summarized in 1798, when the Federal Direct Tax described Barnes’ house lot as containing a dwelling house of wood 46 by 22 ft an addition of Brick to each end 30 by 22 ft, 8 Windows 4 ˝ by 2 ˝ ft, 10 wind’s 3 ˝ by 1-1/2 ft, Kitchen of wood 36 by 20 ft, Store 20 ft sq, Meat house 16 sq, Cornhouse 28 by 16ft in good repair.
