Coastal
Resource Advisory Committee

Meet as needed
Purpose:
The advisory body to Maryland's Coastal Zone Management Program. The Dept. of Natural Resources is lead agency for the Program. The Coastal Resources Division, Tidewater Administration, is staff to the Program. CRAG guides Maryland toward best uses, management, conservation, restoration and preservation of coastal area resources as prescribed for the State in the Program document. The Committee provides the formal opportunity through which members and their constituents are kept aware of Program actions and present views on Program development. Through the use of public forums, CRAC brings together diverse interests of coastal Maryland to act as a sounding board to the Coastal Resources Division. The Division considers the concerns proposed by CRAC regarding policy and technical, environmental or economic aspects of Program decisions. GRAC also seeks common ground on which to develop recommendations and policy positions on State coastal management issues for appropriate decision makers.
